Raleigh residents want more time to weigh in on comprehensive plan
At the Raleigh City Council meeting to be held this Thursday at 1 p.m. (originally set for today but postponed because of snow), members will be presented with a petition asking them to extend by 30 days the deadline for commenting on the draft comprehensive plan, the Raleigh Public Record reports. The comment period is now scheduled to close Jan. 31.
Unveiled to the public last month, the comprehensive plan offers a guideline for the city's growth and development. Since the last plan was written in 1989, Raleigh's population has grown by 72 percent, creating new issues related to growth and sustainability that the updated plan aims to address.
