Raleigh wants input on plans for free downtown bus service
The City of Raleigh will hold a public forum on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to collect citizens' feedback on a proposed downtown circulator bus service. City officials are interested in ideas about a route and suggested stops for the service, which would be offered free of charge.
Raleigh plans to launch the bus service in the downtown business district in February 2009. It would be provided by a hybrid electric bus designed especially for the program, which is intended to help employees, residents and visitors shuttle between shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and parking. The bus would run every 10 to 15 minutes.
Thursday's forum will take place in Room 303 of the Avery C. Upchurch Government Complex at 222 W. Hargett St. For more information about the proposed service or Thursday's forum, contact Transit Marketing Specialist Stacey Carless (really!) at 996-3030 or email Stacey.carless [at] ci.raleigh.nc.us.
